Social Studies- Hygiene

I learned that chamber pots were the only thing that people could poo and wee in.

Social Studies- The black death

What was life like in the middle ages? Interestingly, it depends if you are poor or rich. For example rich people got nice things and poor people got nothing. The rich and poor had rats and poo and rubbish in their house. It was disgusting in the middle ages because of the black death and everything that was lying on the ground, no one wanted to live in the middle ages because of all the disgusting things that were there. Itś one of the reasons why the black death spread through Europe.

Teabag Rockets

Today for science we did teabag rockets, Teabag rockets are when you light teabags on fire with lighters/matches.

Aim: To observe convection in real life

Equipment: lighter/matches, teabag, heatmat, scissors

Hypothesis: I think that the teabags are going to fly in the air then disappear when it coolsdown

Steps

1.  get your  scissors and cut the top of your teabag
2. tip out the tea in the teabag and then fold it out and put it carefully on the heatmat
3. carefully with your matches or lighters light your teabag on fire
4. watch your teabag fly away then dissapear when it flys away
5. you can do it with as many as you want

conclusion: I found that it was really easy to do and i would do it again i watched it convect and increace in size then dissapear, convetion is where something heats up and then floats but when something cools down it sinks to the bottom.

We learned about the biggest Tsunami and it was in alaska in 1958 and it was 530 metres tall it was taller than all the famous landmarks.

Evaporation Experiment

We have been learning about Distillation, Evaporation is when liquid turns into vapour (Gases).

Aim: To evaporate Copper sulfate

Hypothesis: I think it is going to turn into vapour (Gas) and I think it might turn transparent.

Equipment:
Gauze mat
Evaporation bowl
Beaker
Element
Copper Sulfate
Warm water

Method:
1. Put warm water in a beaker
2. put it on a gauze mat on the element
3. Put the beaker on the mat
4. Put the copper sulfate in the evaporation dish
5. put the evaporation dish on the beaker
6. Turn the element on 3
7.Turn it up to 5 till you see it boil
8. when it boils have a look and you will see vapour forming and crystals

Observation:
1. I can see bubbles
2. Dropets are forming
3. Its boiling
4. Steam
5. Crystals forming
6. Bubbles forming

Conclusion:
What I saw was there was crystals forming blue and white and the copper sulfate was disappearing into vapour and gases and the water was boiling and I saw that it was steaming and disappearing to.
