Hurumanu - Renewable Energy

Aim: To make a Solar Powered Oven.

Materials: 
  1.  Sellotape
  2. Scissors 
  3. Pizza Box 
  4. Straw
  5. Marshmallow
  6. Biscuit
  7. Glab Wrap
  8. Tinfoil
  9. Black Plastic
  10. Ruler
  11. Vivid Pen
  12. News Paper
Steps:
  1. Cut out the flap on the lid of the pizza box so that it is 5cm around the edge.
  2. Sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap.
  3. Sellotape some glad-wrap so that the hole you have cut on the pizza box lid is covered over with glad wrap.
  4. Put a piece of black plastic on the bottom of inside the pizza.
  5. Make a paper square that fits inside of the pizza box and lays around the edge.
  6. Put a marshmallow on top of a chocolate biscuit, place it on a plastic plate and put it in the solar oven.
  7. Put it in the sun to cook.

Conclusion

We haven't finished the experiment because the smores haven't had time to cook because of the weekend and the Monday we had off so we couldn't put in the sun and come and check on it so yeah we are finishing them today.

Solar Energy


Aim: To find out which colour attracts the suns heat.

Hypothesis: 

I think that the silver is going to heat better because it is tin foil it is metal.


Materials:

  1.  x3 cups (x1 plastic cup x2 styrophome cup)
  2.  x1 tin foil paper
  3.  x1 paper
  4.  x1 black plastic
  5.  x1 thermometer
  6. x1 heat lamp

Steps

  1.  Get your 3 cups 
  2.  Put the tin foil cup on the tin foil
  3.  Put the plastic cup on the plastic
  4.  Put the white cup on the white paper
  5.  Pour the water in the cups 1/4 way
  6. Turn the heat lamp on and put it in front of all the cups
  7. Put a timer on for 15 minutes and wait
  8. When that 15 minutes is up put the thermometer in the cup for 1 minute then  take it out for 1 minute and see what it is
  9. Do all the other cups
  10. Record your findings
  11. Lastly do your conclusion

Conclusion

In this picture there is three cups with different things on it one has nothing on it and the other two have tin foil or a plastic bag and they are on the top of the colour of the cup.
